If you experience echo, ask your participant to:
- Use a Headphones or Earphones (with built-in mic).
- Lower Speaker Volume (or Mute When Not Speaking)
- If a headphones isn’t available, reduce your speaker volume to minimise sound leakage into your mic.
- Ask participants to mute when not talking - especially if multiple users are in one room.
- Adjust the microphone position or increase its distance from the speakers
- Move your mic further from speakers or external sound sources to avoid feedback loops.
- Disable Microphone Enhancements or “Listen to This Device” Settings (on Windows)
- On Windows: Go to Control Panel → Sound → Recording → Microphone → Properties → Levels/Listen tab, and disable “Microphone Boost” or “Listen to this device” if enabled.
- Use Noise-Cancellation Supported Audio Devices.
If your participants hear an echo, ensure you complete the previous steps on your side.
If you are still having issues after trying these steps, one or more users may be experiencing slow and/or unstable network conditions.
In this case, it's possible for the audio feeds to get out of sync, which can cause echoing.
